Risk aversion is helping the US Dollar (USD) pare its losses against the Swiss Franc (CHF) on Friday. The cautious mood triggered by surging Oil prices has outweighed the drag from declining US Treasury yields. Having rebounded from support around 0.8200, USD/CHF is challenging Thursday's high of 0.8247 at the time of writing, while momentum indicators suggest bearish pressure is easing.

Renewed supply concerns have pushed Brent Oil above $110.00 to fresh five-month highs on Friday. Those fears have resurfaced as Iran tightens its control over the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi Arabian oilfields face fresh attacks. Oil-importing economies, including Switzerland, face additional pressure from crude prices at these levels.
Meanwhile, France's 10-year OAT bond yield has fallen 10 basis points from the multi-decade high of 5.14% recorded on Thursday. The retreat has reduced the speculative appeal of the CHF, which has served as a safe haven during France’s debt crisis.

A recovery above the former support level of 0.8230 from the 0.8200 area leaves USD/CHF with a mildly bullish near-term bias, with the pair trading at 0.8242. Bearish momentum is weakening: the 4-hour Relative Strength Index (14) has moved back towards the neutral 50 area, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has turned positive.
The weekly highs around 0.8275 would come into focus if buyers can establish a firm footing above 0.8230. A decisive break above 0.8275 would invalidate the bearish trend, bringing the lows of 13 and 14 October, near 0.8315, into view.
Conversely, a move back below 0.8230 would encourage sellers to revisit support around 0.8185, the 22 September low. Below that, the next downside target lies around 0.8150, the peak reached in mid-August and early September.
