177.70 is the approximate level for EUR/JPY in Tuesday’s Asian session. The cross has ended a four-day run of gains. On the daily chart, trading remains contained within a descending channel, indicating that the bearish bias persists.
Short-term support and medium-term resistance are containing EUR/JPY’s consolidation. At 177.54, the nine-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) sits just below the cross. The 50-day EMA at 179.84 restricts upside, leaving the broader outlook neutral rather than clearly bullish. With a reading of 42.59, the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains below its midpoint. This suggests mildly weak momentum, although conditions are not outright oversold.

Immediate support is under test at 177.54, the nine-day EMA. Should EUR/JPY break below this short-term average, the bearish bias would strengthen, bringing downward pressure towards the 11-month low of 175.70 recorded in November 2025. The descending channel’s lower boundary, around 175.60, would be the next level to watch. A further increase in selling pressure that takes the cross beneath this confluence support zone could leave the 14-month low at 169.72 exposed.
Near 178.70, the descending channel’s upper boundary presents the main upside barrier. Beyond that lies the 50-day EMA at 179.84. Clearing this medium-term average would trigger a bullish reversal and pave the way for EUR/JPY to move towards its all-time high of 187.95, set on April 17.
