$1.30 Support Tested: Ripple (XRP) price forecast as protocol defers bug fix to November

  • $1.30 comes into view as XRP edges lower. The 100-day EMA has become resistance, joining the 50-day and 200-day EMAs in limiting gains.
  • With validator support falling to 26, the XRP Ledger's bug-fix countdown has restarted, pushing the patch back to November.
  • Support from the weekly SuperTrend indicator has not removed the obstacles to an XRP recovery, with price structure remaining weak.

$1.30 is approaching as Ripple (XRP) retreats on Thursday. Early-week gains are being unwound after efforts to extend the recovery towards $1.40 failed. Buyers have been left discouraged as sellers gain control. Downside remains the path of least resistance, with selling likely to intensify if bulls relinquish the $1.30 demand zone.

$709,000 in ETF inflows offers little buffer against selling

Bitcoin’s (BTC) fall below $82,000 and Ethereum’s (ETH) retreat towards $2,400 are leading a broad cryptocurrency pullback. Inflows into spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have not prevented the decline.

Roughly $709,000 flowed into US-listed XRP spot ETFs on Wednesday, following two subdued trading days. This modest one-day demand may be insufficient to absorb selling unless inflows continue over the coming weeks. Cumulative inflows nevertheless remain positive at $1.8 billion despite the volatility, while net assets stand at $1.6 billion. These figures suggest that long-term investor interest in the underlying token remains intact.

26 validators: XRP Ledger bug fix postponed

A fall in validator support from 35 to 26 has forced Ripple’s XRP Ledger (XRPL) to postpone a planned bug fix. CoinDesk has since reported on X that support has rebounded to 31. Even so, the patch must wait another two weeks.

For an XRPL amendment to proceed, validator consensus must stay above 80%. Approval from at least 29 of 35 validators is required, with the network checking every 15 minutes for 14 days. The process ensures broad network backing before protocol changes are introduced to close token-creation loopholes or improve the lending algorithm.

$1.33 XRP: technical picture favours sellers

Around $1.33, XRP remains below a series of key exponential moving averages (EMAs), leaving its near-term bias bearish. Closest overhead is the 100-day EMA at $1.34. The 50-day and 200-day EMAs converge just above $1.37, indicating that a substantial supply zone continues to constrain the pair.

A Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading near 43 also points to subdued momentum. Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator is slightly negative. Together, these signals suggest recovery attempts are likely to attract selling while prices remain below the overhead levels.

Daily chart: XRP/USDT

The first upside hurdle is the 100-day EMA near $1.34, ahead of the closely grouped 50-day EMA and 200-day EMA at $1.38. A sustained move above that confluence would bring the SuperTrend line near $1.47 into focus. Beyond it lies the broader downtrend barrier marked by the resistance trend line, with reference levels at $1.62 and $1.70. The daily chart shows no clear indicator-based support, leaving the pair exposed to further losses unless buyers recover at least the 100-day EMA.

Weekly momentum, however, offers no decisive signal. Although the MACD histogram remains positive, it has eased from earlier highs, and the RSI is hovering near 48 on the weekly chart. This combination suggests consolidation rather than a sustained bullish advance.

Weekly chart: XRP/USDT

Much further below, the SuperTrend indicator marks the next significant structural demand zone around $0.94, an area where buyers previously returned. A weekly close back towards that zone would open the way to a broader correction. Holding above current levels, by contrast, would keep XRP rangebound below the concentrated overhead resistance zone.

Ripple: frequently asked questions

Specialising in cross-border remittances, payments company Ripple uses blockchain technology to deliver its services. Ripple Labs Inc. created RippleNet, a payment-transfer network available to financial institutions worldwide. The company also uses the XRP token.

The decentralised XRPLedger blockchain has XRP as its native token. Ripple Labs uses it to enable transactions on XRPLedger, allowing financial institutions to transfer value across borders. By supporting instant, trustless payments on the XRPLedger chain, XRP helps financial firms reduce the cost of transacting globally.

Built on distributed ledger technology and blockchain, XRPLedger uses XRP to facilitate transactions. Unlike other blockchains, it incorporates an inflammatory protocol designed to combat spam and distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks. Maintenance of XRPL is handled by a peer-to-peer network called the global XRP Ledger community.

The interledger standard used by XRP is a blockchain protocol that supports payments between different networks. XRP’s blockchain can, for example, link the ledgers of two or more banks, effectively eliminating intermediaries and the need for centralisation within the system. Engineered by Jed McCaleb, Arthur Britto and David Schwartz, the XRPLedger blockchain uses XRP as its native token.
