ECB's Kazimir: We should act before high inflation begins to seem normal

A member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS), Peter Kazimir, remarked in Monday’s European trading session that attention is increasingly turning to the extent of further monetary policy tightening required.

How Much Further Tightening Is Needed?

Increasingly, the debate centres on how much more action the ECB needs to take, rather than whether further action is necessary.

It is not necessarily sound policy to wait for inflation to broaden and for businesses to pass on costs.

The policy path required may still be underestimated by markets.
